(2009-01-06) The President of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Asif Ali Zardari arrived this afternoon in Kabul on a two-day visit on the invitation of H.E. Mr. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The President was accompanied by Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Governor NWFP Owais Ahmad Ghani, and other prominent political personalities of the country. On arrival, President Zardari was accorded a warm welcome.
The two leaders will hold tete-a-tete followed by delegation-level talks. The talks will cover wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues.
A Joint Declaration between Pakistan and Afghanistan on Directions of Bilateral Cooperation will also be signed by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries in the presence of President Zardari and President Karzai.
In the evening, President Karzai will host a Banquet in honour of President Zardari which will be attended by the Afghan dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps and international organizations.
President Karzai will also host a one-on-one breakfast in honour of President Zardari tomorrow.
