The Foreign Minister chaired 8th meeting of the Advisory Council of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Planning Development & Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Dr. Muhammad Farogh Naseem,Senior officials of the Ministries of Commerce and Finance. Former Ambassadors and foreign policy experts also participated in the meeting.

The Council deliberated on the evolving situation in the Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJ&K) including grave human rights violations and the serious risks that Indian actions posed to regional peace and security.

The Foreign Minister apprised members of the Council on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. The Council discussed Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach to the United Nations, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Organization of Islamic Countries and a number of foreign governments.

The Foreign Minister expressed serious concerns that innocent Kashmiris living in IOJ&K had been facing curfew and a range of restrictions for 23 continues days. There had been mass arrests of Kashmiris including children, Peoples were denied religious freedom to offer Eid al Azha prayer.

The Foreign Minister pointed out that reports emerging from the international media and human rights organizations present a very grave picture. The Foreign Minister reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to extend political, diplomatic and moral support to the innocent Kashmiris and will make all possible efforts to reach out to international fora in this regard.
