Today, an Embassy team headed by Mr. Azeem Ullah Cheema, Charge d’ Affaires visitedSamabahia area of Brasilia – majority of the Pakistani community is living there. Brig. Mohammad Yousaf, Defence Attaché and Mr. Saqib Nisar, Accountant of the Mission also accompanied the CdA. The general welfare of the community was inquired and they were assured Government of Pakistan’s full support in the wake of outbreak of Covid-19.
Speaking on the occasion, the CdA briefed the Pakistani community regarding the steps taken by the Government of Pakistan to combat and contain novel Coronavirus for the welfare of the Pakistani diasporas. They were also requested to donate generously in the Prime Minister’s Covid-19 Fund 2020.
The community was also urged to follow the host government’s recommendations regarding the observance of lockdown and take all necessary precautionary measures to protect themselves from the Covid-19.They were also informed that a help desk has also been established in the Embassy working 24/7 to assist the Pakistani community. In case, any Pakistani is infected by Covid-19, it should be immediately notified to the Embassy.
Defense Attaché also underscored the importance of being united during these difficult times and advised the community to help each other to overcome the situation.
On behalf of Pakistani community, Mr. Shah Faisal, President, Pakistan-Brazil Association deeply appreciated the gesture extended by the Embassy andassured their full cooperation to jointly cope with the situation.
At the end, relief goods were distributed to deserving members of the Pakistani community along with financial and medical assistance chequesto some Pakistanis. The monthly rent of the Mosque being administrated by the community was also paid by the Embassy.
