Mr. Muhammad Saleem, Head of Mission, held a briefing session for 120 stranded Pakistani nationals in Tanzania at the High Commission on 22 April 2020. The session was attended by one representative each of the ten Tablighi Jamaats consisting of total 89 stranded Tablighis in Dar es Salaam. In addition two representatives of 12 Pakistanis workers of M/S Astral Constructors of Pakistan and eight other individual stranded Pakistanis were present.

The participants were briefed about the efforts being made by the High Commission to arrange a chartered/special flight for their repatriation to Pakistan at the earliest. They were apprised that closure of airports and suspension of commercial flights due to Covid-19 threat all around Africa and Asia was the major hurdle. The participants were informed that the High Commission has requested the Government of Pakistan through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange special flight of PIA to evacuate the stranded Pakistanis from Dar es Salaam. Efforts were also underway to seek chartered flight from other airlines from Eastern/Southern Africa or the Gulf regions.
The participants thanked the High Commission for organizing the meeting and for apprising them of the High Commission’s efforts.
