High Commissioner Raza Bashir Tarar, hoisted Pakistan flag, in a simple ceremony, to mark the 73rdanniversary of Pakistan’s Independenceat the Chancery here today.National Anthem was played on the occasion.
Due to risks associated with the public gathering, no indoor event was held.
In a video message, the High Commissioner greeted Canadians of Pakistani origin on the auspicious occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day. He reminded them of the struggle and sacrifices rendered by the Founding Fathers and their millions of followers during the Pakistan movement.
He said that despite immense difficulties at the time of independence, Pakistan today has impregnable defence capabilities and its rapidly improving economy indicates that the country is resolutely marching towards its due place in the comity of nations under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He said that Pakistan is an important country playing a critical role in the region as well as at the global level. The High Commissioner also paid tribute to Kashmiris, who are facing unspeakable cruelty in the Indian illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
In conclusion, the High Commissioner urged unity and synergy among community members to contribute to the development and betterment of both Pakistan and Canada.
