The High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, South Africa in collaboration with Board of Investmentand Trade Baluchistan has organized a webinar on 30 September, 2020 under the banner “Investment Potential & Opportunities in Baluchistan”
The event was attended by Mr. TheseleMaserbane, Minister for Communications, Science and Technology of Lesotho asChief Guest, Prince Ahmedzai, Liaison Assistant to Chief Minister of Baluchistan, Mr. Farman Zarkoon,Chief Executive Officer (Baluchistan Board of Investment and Trade), Mr. Sergio CarlosMacamo, Commercial Secretary of Mozambique, Ms.Tefelo Majoro, Senior Manager at Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), South Africa, Mr. IqbalMeer Sharma, CEO of ISSAR and Mr. SalimSherMohammad, MD of NBDOA.
Charge d’ Affaires, Mr. Adnan Javaid in his opening remarks underscored the enormous potential and business opportunities for foreigner investors in Baluchistan. He also highlighted the Government of Pakistan’s liberal investors friendly policies in addition to regulatory framework to enhance the ease of doing business in Pakistan.
Chief Guest, Mr. TheseleMaserbane, appreciated the Mission’s initiative to arrange the event and proposed the exchange of trade delegation between Pakistan and Lesotho.
CEO, Mr.Zarkoon, gave a detailed presentation to the participants. He elaborated the Government’s policies to facilitate the foreign investors. He also underlined the establishment of special economic zone with tax incentives in Baluchistan.
Private sector participants expressed their interest to invest and benefit from Government’s policies particularly tax free regime in special economic zone. Mr. Sharma, mentioned that as South Africa is gateway to African continentsimilarly Baluchistan, owing to its strategic position, may serve as gateway to Central Asian Republics.
The event was broadcasted live on Youtube and Facebook and was attended by all and sundry.
Chief Guest, Minister TheseleMaserbane, in his closing remarks stated that “he will give formal presentation to his Cabinet” on today’s event and opportunities for collaboration between Pakistan and Lesotho. He also indicated to visit Pakistan with business delegation.
The participants appreciated the Trade Commission of Pakistan’s initiative to bridge the gap between Government and private sector by bringing them on virtual platform to learn about investment potential in Pakistan.
