High Commission, Pretoria, in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) arranged a Webinar to introduce and raise awareness among overseas Pakistanis about Roshan Digital Account (RDA) in Pakistan. The event was arranged in line with the policy of the Government of Pakistan to facilitate our citizens abroad and financially connect them to Pakistan’s banking channel through easiest and befitting manner. It was attended by senior officials of SBP, local media personnel and Pakistani community members in Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and South Africa.

Dr.Murtaza Syed, Deputy Governor (SBP), the guest of honour in his opening remarks introduced the concept of RDA. He gave overview of Pakistan’s economy and briefed the participants on current economic situation. Head PRI and Director EPD gave the detailed presentation to the participants highlighting the salient aspects of the Government’s initiatives.

Charge d’ Affairs, Mr. Adnan Javaid, whilst speaking on the occasion, underscored that overseas Pakistanis are country’s assets and backbone of its economy. They are directly contributing more that USD 23 Billion in Pakistan’s economy through their remittances. He underscored that it is heartening to note that Pakistan received the all-time high remittance in July, in single month, despite COVID-19 challenges.

State Bank team and community members applauded the Mission’s efforts to arrange the event to have first-hand information of the RDA. The presentations were followed by the question and answer session by the community members. The event was broadcasted live on Mission’s Facebook page and viewed by hundreds of overseas Pakistanis, as well.
