Today, at a virtual ceremony organized by Embassy of Pakistan, Brasilia, Shaikh Sultan Rahman, Vice President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) and Dr. Elias Miguel Haddad, Vice President Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo (FIESP) signed Memorandum of Understanding of Industrial and Economic Cooperation between Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry and Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo. The virtual ceremony was attended by His Excellency Mr. Ahmad Hussain Dayo, Ambassador of Pakistan to Brazil, His Excellency, Mr. Olyntho Vieira, Ambassador ofBrazil to Pakistanand Mr. Khurram Aijaz, Vice President, FPCCI.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Ahmad Hussain Dayoexpressed his delight to witness the harvest of shared hard work over the past year to sign this historic MoU between the two Federations, which would help in deepening commercial ties between Pakistan and Brazil.Ambassador Olyntho Vieira highlighted the importance of exchange of information under the umbrella of the framework which he said was more than trade and would help in further developing awareness of business culture between the two countries. Shaikh Sultan Rahman, Vice President, FPCCI, expressed hope that the MoU will remove trade bottlenecks and pave the way to the economic prosperity through trade expansion. Dr. Elias Miguel Haddad, Vice President, FIESP, believed that the MoU would help in increasing the volume of trade and investments between Pakistan and Brazil.
The MOU, proposed by the FPCCI last year, aims to promote bilateral trade, industrial and economic cooperation between corresponding organizations in Pakistan and Brazil. It seeks to enable the two chambers to establish and develop direct bilateral trade, industrial and economic cooperation; exchange of information on the possibilities of promoting mutual trade and industry; mutual assistance in holding of trade promotional events, assist each other in arranging industrial, commercial and market prospecting missions; promote joint business ventures and work together for elimination of trade barriers. Under umbrella of this MoU, both sides will endeavour to establish and develop direct and effective business relations on regular basis which will further help both sides in identifying news avenues of cooperation in trade and industrial sectors where the potential still remains untapped.
Pakistan and Brazil are important commercial partners with annual bilateral trade nearly touching US$700 million. In areas of trade and economic cooperation, signing of this MoU is another step to the trade and economic growth for our mutual benefit.
