H.E. Muhammad Saleem, High Commissioner for Pakistan,visited the Tanzania Agriculture Research Institute (TARI)in Dar es Salaam today. He was received by Dr. Geoffrey Mkamilo, Director General TARI and other senior officials.
A detailed interaction was held during the meeting with the Institute’s researchers and management. H.E. Saleem apprised the participants about Pakistan’s expertise in agricultural research being conducted in various institutions including the Pakistan Agriculture Research Council, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi.
As Pakistan and Tanzania are mainly agriculture-based economies, the two sides agreed on developing partnership in capacity building; research;use of bio-technology; machinery and farming equipment as well as bilateral trade in textiles, cotton, rice, tea and other food products.
