In a solemn and dignified event organized at the Embassy of Pakistan, complete solidarity was expressed with the Kashmiri brethren today wherein messages of the President, Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister were read out to the audience comprising locals, civil society members, Pakistan community and officials of Pakistan Embassy.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador of Pakistan to Romania H.E. Dr. Zafar Iqbal highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir dispute is one of the oldest items on the agenda of the UN Security Council which remains unresolved due to India’s obstinate refusal to honour its commitments and its disrespect for the fundamental human rights and international law. India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 were manifestly anti-peace and against international law including the UN Charter, UN Security Council Resolutions, and the 4th Geneva Convention and these measures have been rejected by the Kashmiris, Pakistan and the international community.
The Ambassador lauded bravery of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and stated that the helpless people of Kashmir were being subjected to one of the worst forms of state terrorism by the Indian army. The Ambassador, while referring to the message of Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, reiterated Pakistan’s continued unflinching political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ambassador called upon the international community to urge India to end the gross human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir and abide by the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council that called for the final disposition of the State of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the will of the people of Kashmir expressed through democratic means of a free and impartial plebiscite.
