The Prime Minister participated in a Trilateral Meeting on Sustainable Energy for All with the Prime Minister of Norway and Development Cooperation Minister of Denmark. The meeting was held today (24 September 2013) on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. During the meeting, it was agreed that the three countries would push for a goal on Sustainable Energy for All as part of the Post-2015 Development Agenda. The Prime Minister outlined the goals and targets that his government had established to promote sustainable energy in Pakistan. He highlighted that Pakistan national framework was aimed at generation of cheap energy, exploitation of renewable and sustainable energy potential, and a culture of energy conservation and responsibility. The Prime Minister of Norway briefed the Prime Minister on the energy sector of Norway where nearly hundred percent of energy produced is through hydel sources. The Norwegian Prime Minister assured the Prime Minister that he would encourage the Norwegian private sector and business houses to look at the prospects of investment in Pakistan’s energy sector. The three leaders agreed to continue their engagement with the Sustainable Energy for All initiative. The three leaders also issued a joint press statement.
