On the 68th Anniversary of the establishment of the Untied Nations, Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to the principles and ideals enshrined in the UN Charter. Pakistan reiterates the importance and validity of this global forum for its role in promoting world peace, security and prosperity.
As a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Pakistan has been making every effort to strengthen the role of diplomacy in resolving conflicts and helping build states in post-conflict situations. In all instances, we have upheld the primacy of the UN Charter.
Pakistan is the largest troop contributor to the UN peacekeeping forces. Thereby, playing a major role in the United Nations’ efforts towards maintaining international peace and security.
Pakistan also lends strong support to the efforts of the United Nations towards formulation of post-2015 Development Agenda that identifies benchmarks for poverty alleviation, sustainable development and social inclusion.
At this occasion, we renew our pledge to continue playing constructive role towards the realization of a peaceful and stable world through our efforts at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels, including at the United Nations.
