Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would be visiting the UK to attend the London Conference on Afghanistan, being held on 3-4 December 2014. British Prime Minister David Cameron had telephoned the Prime Minister on 28 October 2014 and invited him to participate in the Conference. The Conference is being co-hosted by the Governments of UK and Afghanistan. President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah would attend from Afghanistan.

During the visit, the Prime Minister would have bilateral interaction with the British side and hold meeting with World Bank officials.

Prime Minister Cameron would host a breakfast meeting, which would be attended by the Prime Minister and the Afghan leadership. A bilateral meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is also scheduled.

The Prime Minister’s participation in the London Conference is a reflection of the importance that Pakistan attaches to international efforts for peace, stability and economic development in Afghanistan. Pakistan has consistently underscored the imperative of deeper engagement of the international community with Afghanistan on the economic plane to reinforce the efforts for peace and stability.
