(2017-07-06) Pakistan shares the international concerns over the latest ballistic missile launch carried out by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on 4 July 2017. Pakistan reiterates its view that such actions are in violation of the UN Security Council Resolutions and further vitiate the prospects of peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula as well as North East Asia.
We urge the DPRK to comply with its obligations under the UN Security Council resolutions and to desist from all actions that could lead to further tensions and escalation. We also reiterate our support for dialogue and diplomacy in order to achieve the shared goal of a nuclear weapons free Korean Peninsula as agreed in the framework of the Six Party Talks.
