Vice President Biden hosted Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for breakfast today at his official residence. The Vice President commended the Prime Minister’s ongoing efforts to improve Pakistan’s economy and for his leadership of Pakistan’s government. The Vice President acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against militants, reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, and emphasized the importance of sustaining close counterterrorism cooperation. The Vice President and the Prime Minister agreed on the importance of advancing peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban as part of a broader effort to promote regional stability and economic development.
