At the instructions of the Prime Minister, two plane loads of relief items were despatched to Kathmandu early this morning. The Prime Minister has approved provision of 20000 tents, 20 tons of rice and medicines, as requested by the Nepalese authorities.

Two C130 aircrafts of the PAF carried over 600 tents, 4 tons of medicines and dry food items. About a dozen Nepalese post-graduate medical students, proudly dressed in the King Edward Medical College shirts were also airlifted to serve their countrymen during the testing times of Nepalese nation.

The planes were seen off at the airport by the Ambassador of Nepal HE Mr. Bharat Raj Paudyal, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority, Military Operations, Pakistan Air Force and ISPR.

The Ambassador of Nepal deeply appreciated the much needed support and assistance from Pakistan.

An extensive relief operation is likely to continue in the next few days.
