Response to a News Item Published in Daily Dawn on 13th May 2014
Responding to a query regarding a news item published in an English daily on 13th May 2014, entitled, “Over 800,000 Pakistanis in Saudi Jails”, the Spokesperson clarified that no such number of Pakistanis are in Saudi Jails.
The Information placed before the National Assembly was that 809 prisoners are held in Riyadh and 700 in Jeddah.
The government of Pakistan attaches utmost importance to the welfare of Pakistanis abroad and is making every effort to facilitate them.
