Responding to a question about Pakistan’s assessment of the recently concluded Nuclear Security Summit (NSS), the Spokesperson said that the NSS Process has helped raise awareness about nuclear security. Pakistan actively participated in the Summit Process culminating with the Prime Minister’s two interventions and a national statement. These interventions highlighted the steps Pakistan has taken to ensure full safety and security of its nuclear facilities and materials.
The Summit also endorsed Pakistan’s credentials as a responsible nuclear state. There was wide acknowledgment of safety and security of Pakistan’s nuclear programme and its safeguards. This should put to rest unsubstantiated reports cited earlier by certain quarters in Europe about Pakistan’s alleged nuclear export to a third country.
Pakistan will continue its constructive engagement with the NSS Process.
