A delegation of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries(SCCI) led by Mr. Suraj Vaidya, Acting President of SCCI called on the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz today.

The Adviser welcomed the delegation and said that Pakistan fully supported the SAARC processes aimed at attainment of its cherished goals and hoped to see it as a vibrant Regional organization. He said that Pakistan was hosting the permanent Headquarters of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries since its inception in 1992. He further elaborated that the South Asia Region was full of potential with a market of 1.7 billion consumers, immense human capital, unexploited natural resources and a predominantly younger population. Business community of the SAARC region could play a pivotal role to realize this potential.

Thanking the Government of Pakistan for a grant for the construction of the building of the Headquarters of the SCCI in Islamabad, Mr. Suraj appreciated the initiatives of Pakistan for the support of business community in the SAARC region. He said that SCCI was looking forward for early finalization of the two agreements on the regional connectivity.

The Adviser invited the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries to plan side events during the 19th SAARC Summit to be held in Islamabad in November 2016.
