The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister was the Chief Guest at the closing session of the NDU –RDDC Seminar on “Regional Stability and Lessons Learned in Regional Peace building”, held in the National Defence University, Islamabad on 23 October, 2014.
The Seminar which was presided over by Lt. Gen. Javed, President of the NDU, focused on the situation in the region with many distinguished speakers from the regional countries and beyond participating and speaking in it. The Conference conclusions would be collated and circulated soon.
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, while highlighting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s remarks in the United Nations General Assembly Session this year, in which he had spoken of the importance “more dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the problems of the region”; stressed that “we cannot build, much less sustain peace, without resolving the underlined problems and disputes, including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.” He concluded by stressing that bilateral and regional cooperation must be promoted for shared peace and development and that this should be appropriately supported by international and regional organizations.
