Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Syed Tariq Fatemi, met Pakistani students in Milan who represented Pakistan at the Model ASEM 2014 which was held in conjunction with the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit.

The students were among the 1700 young people selected from Asian and European countries to participate in a two-day event that preceded and was modelled on the ASEM Summit to share ideas on global political, economic and social issues.

Syed Hamza bin Iftikhar, Zain Ahmed Mir, Syed Zaigham Abbas and Ghulam Hussain Dar, Pakistani Students studying at Politechnico Di Milano, were selected to participate in the ASEM Model summit by the Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF). One of them was also among the group of four international students that presented the outcome document of ASEM Model to the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council.

The purpose of Model ASEM was to bring the youth perspective into deliberations of the ASEM Summit and to help the participating students improve their public speaking, teamwork, communication and negotiations skills. It also serves as a durable dialogue forum for youth from ASEM countries to share ideas on future of relations between Europe and Asia and other issues of global significance.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Syed Tariq Fatemi congratulated the students on representing Pakistan at Model ASEM 2014. He said that youth formed two thirds of Pakistan’s population and held the promise of a bright future for the country.
