Continuing his engagements on the sidelines of United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Summit, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Mr. Tariq Fatemi met with Prime Minister Abe. Mr. Fatemi conveyed the best wishes of the Prime Minister, reiterating the invitation to Mr. Abe to visit Pakistan. Greeting the Special Assistant warmly, Prime Minister Abe expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s participation in the UN Summit and conveyed his best wishes to the Prime Minister.

2. In a detailed discussion with UNDP Chief Ms. Helen Clark, the SAPM underlined the importance of the UN’s activities in Pakistan. The SAPM underscored the need for greater assistance for the Temporarily Dislocated Persons in addition to the mainstream development activities. Expressing full understanding of the complex set of challenges, Ms. Clark reiterated her strong support for UN efforts in Pakistan and stated that she planned to visit Pakistan later this year.

3. At the ECO working lunch, chaired by Secretary General ECO and the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, Mr. Numan Kurtulmus, the SAPM underscored the importance making the ECO more focused, dynamic and relevant given the commonalities of interest and vast regional resources. The Turkish Deputy Minister also reiterated the depth and strength of Pakistan-Turkey bilateral ties.
