A seminar on “Livestock and Dairy Sector of Pakistan” was held at the Embassy on 21st June.

Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha, Vice Chancellor of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore in his keynote speech gave a detailed briefing on the opportunities and challenges of the Livestock and Dairy sector in Pakistan. Dr. Nuzhat Qaiser spoke about her experience as livestock breeder in Pakistan. A documentary on Pakistan’s Livestock sector was also shown.

Other speakers included President and CEO of Ozolea, Ms. Chiara Turelli, Director of IFAD, Mr. Anonio Rota and the Chief Technical Officer of UNIDO Mr. Dino Fortunato. They spoke about their projects and experiences with the livestock and dairy sector of Pakistan.

In his closing remarks, Ambassador Nadeem Riyaz highlighted the economic relations between Pakistan and Italy. He specially spoke about the business potential and opportunities for entrepreneurs in various sectors including dairy and livestock. He stressed the need for joint ventures and invited medium and small scale Italian entrepreneurs to visit Pakistan.

The seminar was followed by a series of B2B meetings between Italian entrepreneurs and the six member Pakistani delegation and officers of the Embassy.

This was the first time that a seminar on Livestock and Dairy sector was held at the embassy. The aim being to sensitize the Italian entrepreneurs about Pakistan’s Dairy and Livestock potential especially in manufacturing buffalo mozzarella and cheese.

The seminar was attended by over sixty participants including officials of the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), officials of FAO, IFAD, UNIDO and Italian businessmen and journalists.
