A trilateral meeting of Senior Officials of Afghanistan, Pakistan and the United States was held today at the Foreign Ministry. Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Javid Ludin, US Special Representative Ambassador Marc Grossman and Foreign Secretary, Salman Bashir led their respective delegations.
It was agreed that the three would constitute the Core Group for promoting and facilitating the process of reconciliation and peace in Afghanistan which must be an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned. The three also emphasized the importance of prioritizing efforts for economic and social development.
Earlier, the Foreign Secretary had in-depth exchange of views separately with both Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Javid Ludin and US Special Representative Ambassador Marc Grossman during which bilateral and regional issues were discussed.
