Special Assistant to Prime Minister Mr. Tariq Fatemi held a meeting with the Executive Vice Foreign Minister of China Mr. Zhang Yesui in Beijing today. Mr. Tariq Fatemi was accompanying the President during his visit to China from 1-4 September 2015 to attend the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of resistance against Fascist forces.
During the meeting, the SAPM congratulated Mr. Zhang on the impressive parade and splendid ceremony to mark the end of World War II. He briefed the Chinese Executive Vice Foreign Minister on the regional situation in particular Pakistan’s relations with India, Afghanistan and US. Mr. Fatemi reiterated the strong ties of friendship between Pakistan and China and expressed his desire to further enhance the level of cooperation between the two countries.
The Chinese Executive Vice Foreign Minister thanked Pakistan for sending a high level delegation to China to participate in the ceremony marking Chinese victory in World War II. He also thanked SAPM for briefing him on the regional situation. Mr. Zhang expressed China’s appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts to have good relations with all its neighbors. Zhang said that Pakistan and China were”all weather”friends and their strategic partnership has entered a new phase of cooperation with the launch of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). While assuring us of China’s support in our endeavours to have peace and stability in the region, Zhang added that CPEC was a flagship project of President Xi Jinping’s initiative of ‘One Road-One Belt’ which will bring prosperity to both countries as well as the region.
