Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs received Rt. Hon. Michael Fallon MP, British Secretary of State for Defence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

Syed Tariq Fatemi stated that Pakistan and UK enjoy close and cordial relations in diverse fields including trade, commerce, education, security and defence. These relations have been further strengthened in the last two years. The presence of a large Pakistani diaspora in the UK acts as a bridge between the two countries.

SAPM highlighted efforts of the Pakistani Government to root out extremism and terrorism. He also briefed the visiting dignitary on the Prime Minister’s vision of a peaceful neighborhood and Pakistan’s desire to have good relations with all its neighbours.

The visiting Secretary of State for Defence appreciated Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism and its policies for a peaceful neighbourhood. He expressed satisfaction on the overall trajectory of bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Issues of regional and global importance were also discussed. The meeting was held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere.
