Mr. Christoph Strasser, Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid and Member of the German Bundestag called on Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs (SAPM) today.
Expressing satisfaction at the warm and strong ties with Germany, the SAPM called for their further strengthening in political, economic and cultural fields. He stated that there was a need to further strengthen relations between the Parliaments of both the countries.
SAPM briefed the visiting dignitary on Pakistan’s fight against terrorism and the situation of human rights. He stated that fight against terrorism will continue until all terrorists are eliminated. He emphasized that the Constitution of Pakistan fully guarantees the rights of minorities and underlined the reasons for lifting of moratorium on the death penalty in terrorism related cases.
Mr. Strasser reiterated Germany’s desire to strengthen its relations with Pakistan bilaterally as well as in the context of the EU. He appreciated Pakistan’s fight against terrorism and stressed upon the need for enhancing school enrollment in Pakistan. Germany would keenly work towards assisting in various educational projects in Pakistan.
Both also discussed the situation in the region and reiterated the need for peace and stability for economic prosperity.
