Spokesman’s response to a report published in a section of the media

Responding to a query regarding a report published in a section of the media, the Spokesman said that the story was factually incorrect and misleading. He emphasized that Mr. Tariq Fatemi is a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and not the Advisor as indicated in the story. In that capacity, the Special Assistant is not permitted under the rules to appear on the floor of either houses of the Parliament.

The Spokesman added that Mr. Tariq Fatemi has had an illustrious diplomatic career spanning thirty five years, during which he served in major world capitals and challenging assignments at the Foreign Office. He always acquitted himself with great distinction throughout his long career.

In his present position, Mr. Fatemi is rendering valuable services in implementing the foreign policy priorities of the present government.
