At the invitation of the President of Pakistan, the President of the State of Palestine H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Abbas would be visiting Islamabad from 16-18 February, 2013. This would be his first visit to Pakistan after the recognition of Palestine as a Non-member Observer State by the UN. Pakistan co-sponsored the UNGA Resolution that granted this status to Palestine on 29 November, 2012. President Abbas last visited Pakistan in February 2010.
On arrival at Chaklala Airbase, President Abbas will be welcomed by a Guard of Honour. On 17 February, he would be received by the President at Aiwan-e-Sadar, where a welcome ceremony would be held in honour of the Palestinian President.
President Abbas’s engagements would include delegation level talks followed by a luncheon hosted by the President. The two leaders are expected to discuss all aspects of bilateral relations and will also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
