Status of Pakistanis in Japan
Our Embassy in Japan has reported the following:
No Pakistani casualty has been reported so far as a result of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit the North Eastern Japan on 11 March 2011.
Around two hundred Pakistanis reportedly live in Sendai, Iwate and Fukushima areas. Embassy has already established contact with some of the Pakistanis, who have reported their safety.
A team from the Pakistan Embassy is leaving for Sendai on 15 March to assess the situation and welfare of Pakistanis.
A team organized by the Pakistani community in Japan has already reached Sendai with food supplies.
