Terrorist Take-over of In Amenas Gas Field in Algeria

The Government of Pakistan condemns in strongest terms the terrorist take-over of In-Amenas Gas Field in Algeria on 16 January 2013 and taking as hostages people belonging to many nationalities which resulted in the death and injury of many innocent people.

Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security. Any act of terrorism is criminal and unjustifiable regardless of its motivation.

The People and Government of Pakistan express their profound sympathies and sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this heinous act and to the people and Government of Algeria and those countries whose nationals have been affected. We are confident that the Government of Algeria will be control the situation and restore order and normalcy.
