The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, received the Senior Civil Representative of NATO, Ambassador Ismail Aramaz, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday. Ambassador Aramaz is in Islamabad to attend the Conference of Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process.

The Adviser stated that Pakistan values its relations with NATO and the engagement has been mutually productive. He hoped that the engagement would be further strengthened in future.

The Adviser underlined the resolve of the Government of Pakistan to root out terrorism and extremism from the country and highlighted the success of the Pakistan military operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Ambassador Aramaz congratulated Pakistan on holding the Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference and expressed the hope that it would yield positive outcomes. He appreciated Pakistan’s constructive approach to Afghanistan.

The Adviser conveyed that Pakistan earnestly desires to establish a friendly and cooperative relationship with Afghanistan. He emphasized that Pakistan is committed to the peace process which is imperative for stability in Afghanistan and the region.
