The opening ceremony of the 2017 Chengdu Dialogue on South Asia (Pan Asia) Production Capacity Cooperation
The opening ceremony of the 2017 Chengdu Dialogue on South Asia (Pan Asia) Production Capacity Cooperation was held today in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province of China.
The Dialogue has been organized by the Chengdu Association for Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAFTEC) under the supervision of the Chengdu Municipal Commission of Commerce. The Dialogue is envisaged to serve as an information exchange platform for economic and trade cooperation between Chengdu and the South Asian countries.
In his keynote address on the occasion, the Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu Mr. Mudassir Tipu said that it was imperative to focus on South Asia, home to close to 2 billion people, while seeking solutions to overcome regional developmental disparities. He dealt in detail with Pakistan's impressive economic turnaround and invited the Chinese companies based in Western and Southwestern China to take advantage of Pakistan's strong economic fundamentals and invest in the country. In this context, he specifically highlighted the planned Special Economic Zones and industrial Parks under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The Consul General hailed CPEC as one of the finest examples of win-win cooperation between two countries that will serve as the strongest pillar of economic, commercial and cultural connectivity between Pakistan and China for many decades to come. He also expressed the confidence that through its network of roads, railways and industrial parks, CPEC will herald a new era of regional connectivity, development and prosperity for the entire South Asian region, benefiting billions of people in the process.
The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials from BOI and FPCCI as well as Chengdu Municipal Government. A large number of Chinese entrepreneurs and journalists were also in attendance.
