A US Congressional delegation comprising Senator Carl Levin, Chairman of the US Senate’s Armed Services Committee and Senator Jack Reed, member of the same Committee called on Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Discussions during the meeting focused on Pakistan-US bilateral relationship and the evolving regional situation.

The Foreign Minister highlighted Pakistan’s unprecedented sacrifices in the international fight against terrorism. She underlined that Pakistan fully supports an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace and reconciliation process as part of its commitment to regional peace and stability. Talking about the progress achieved in Pakistan-US ties during the present democratic government’s tenure, the Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction that the two countries were able to move forward in a number of mutually beneficial areas.
