The U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) Daniel Feldman called on the Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs on Wednesday 29 July 2015. He was accompanied by Ambassador Richard Olson. The discussions covered ongoing political developments in the region including Afghanistan, current state of Pakistan-India relations and Pakistan-U.S bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the Adviser while noting the positive direction of ongoing cooperation between the two countries emphasized the need to further strengthen economic and trade relations between Pakistan and the US. The Adviser underscored the comprehensive measures taken by Pakistan to counter terrorism. He also briefed the U.S. SRAP about the ongoing Afghan reconciliation talks and the current status of relations with India following the recent meeting of the Prime Minister with his Indian counterpart on the sidelines of Ufa Summit.

Ambassador Daniel Feldman noted that Pakistan-US relations were on an upward trajectory. He appreciated Pakistan’s positive role in facilitating the Afghan reconciliation talks. Ambassador Feldman welcomed Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the recent terrorist incident in Gurdaspur, India and hoped that relations between Pakistan and India would improve.
