USAID’s Acting Assistant to the Administrator for Afghanistan and Pakistan Affairs Mr. Larry Sampler, called on the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi, today. The meeting focused on the broad areas of cooperation between Pakistan and the US as well as USAID’s ongoing projects in Pakistan.

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the current state of Pakistan-US relations and appreciated the USAID’s role in investing in the social sector in Pakistan that has a direct impact on the lives of the people.

The SAPM briefed the USAID’s delegation regarding the Government’s new policy framework towards the INGOs operating in Pakistan. He underscored that this new policy will contribute towards enhancing the INGO’s efficiency and transparency in their work. The SAPM also emphasized the need for USAID’s enhanced on-budget support to Pakistan.

Mr. Larry Sampler expressed the US desire to further strengthen its relations with Pakistan based on long-term interests. He also assured of continued USAID’s support to different projects in Pakistan.
