In order to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) besieged by India’s decision of 5 August 2019, an event was held at the Embassy of Pakistan, Bucharest in connection with Youm-e-Istehsal 2021.
In a solemn and dignified event organized at the Embassy of Pakistan, complete solidarity was expressed with the Kashmiri brethren today wherein messages of the President, Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister were read out to the audience.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador of Pakistan in Romania His Excellency Dr. Zafar Iqbal while referring to the message of Foreign Minister, reiterated Pakistan’s continued unflinching political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He informed the gathering that for the past two years, Kashmiris have suffered the worst human rights violations by Indian Occupation Forces including military siege and unprecedented restrictions on fundamental freedoms of Kashmiris. The Ambassador called upon the international community to urge India to end the gross human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir and abide by the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council that called for the final disposition of the State of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the will of the people of Kashmir expressed through democratic means of a free and impartial plebiscite.
A photo exhibition and screening of documentary on Kashmir were also organized.
In commemoration of Kashmir Siege Day and the continuing struggle of the Kashmiri people, the Embassy addressed special letters to different parliamentarians and prominent human rights activists in Romania and Moldova. The Ambassador called upon the Romanian and Moldovan parliamentarians as well as human rights activists to exert their influence to press upon India to restore the earlier status of IIOJK and stop its human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
