A Seminar was held today at the Pakistan High Commission Pretoria to mark the Youm-e-Istehsal 2021 falling on 5 August. The day marks the completion of two years since India’s illegal action of revoking Article 370 of its Constitution.
Recorded messages of solidarity from President of Azad Jammu Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan, His Royal Highness Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, Member Parliament/Grandson of Nelson Mandela, His Royal Highness Prince Thumbumuzi Dlamini, Kingdom of Eswatini, Moulana Qari Mohammed Rafeek Syed Ali Shah, Former Member Parliament of South Africa and Dr. Ibrahim Khan, Social Activist/National Chairperson of Muslim ACE Program were received and screened. Program was attended by around 50 intellectuals, academia and Kashmir activists. In person speakers included Salman Khan, Chairman of South African Kashmiri Action Group (SAKAG), Martin Ihembe, Scholar, Pretoria University, Dr. Khalid Mirza, representative Overseas Pakistanis and Dr. Haroon Abbasi, representative of Kashmiri diaspora.
Speakers emphatically condemned India’s illegal action of 5 August 2019 and the atrocities committed by the Indian security forces in the illegally occupied territory. They urged an early resolution of the Jammu Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of the people of Jammu Kashmir as enshrined in UN Security Council Resolutions. They also paid tribute to the freedom struggle of the oppressed people and reaffirmed their unwavering support to the freedom of the people of the Jammu and Kashmir.
In his remarks, High Commissioner Mazhar Javed highlighted the illegal nature of India action of 5 August 2019 which was the clear violation of international law and the UN Security Council.
