Ambassador of Pakistan presents Credentials in Colombia
His Excellency the Ambassador of Pakistan Mr. Najm us Saqib presented his Letter of Credence to the President of Colombia Hon. Juan Manual Santos in Bogota today as the non-resident Ambassador of Pakistan to Colombia. The Foreign Minister of Colombia and other high officials were also present.
In his first formal meeting with President Santos, the Ambassador conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. The President and the Ambassador expressed satisfaction over the existing cordial and friendly bilateral relations and agreed to broaden the base of bilateral relations in different fields.
Ambassador Najm us Saqib held a separate meeting with Colombia's Foreign Minister Hon. Maria Holguin wherein a broad agreement was reached to deepen bilateral relations in all fields. The Ambassador also briefed the Foreign Minister on Pakistan's unstinted efforts to create a peaceful neighbourhood in South Asia.
In another meeting between Ambassador Saqib and Ambassador Alfredo Gonzalez, Director (Asia, Africa & Oceania) of the Colombian Ministry of External Affairs, satisfaction was expressed from both sides on "the existing frictionless bilateral relations" and "the steady pace of increasing relations between Pakistan and Colombia."
During his brief visit to Bogota, the Ambassador also interacted with the small Pakistani Community based in Colombia and enquired about their problems. The Ambassador assured his fellow Pakistanis of all possible help in addressing their legitimate concerns.
Pakistan and Colombia enjoy cordial and friendly relations. Both countries share views on international and regional issues and work closely in the United Nations and other multilateral forums.
Based in Brazil as the Ambassador of Pakistan, H.E. Najm us Saqib is concurrently accredited to Guyana, Suriname, Colombia, Venezuela and Bolivia.
