Ambassador's Official Visit to Sao Paulo, Brazil
The Ambassador of Pakistan to Brazil, H.E Mr. Najm us Saqib undertook an official visit to the economic hub of Brazil, Sao Paulo, from 11-14 September, 2017.
On 12 September, the Ambassador inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion in GOTEX Fair at GOTEX Fair Exhibition Centre, Sao Paulo. He encouraged the participating Pakistani businessmen to make best use of their presence in Brazil, understand market dynamics and cultivate strong connections and linkages with major players of the textile industry. The Organizers of GOTEX expressed pleasure at receiving the Ambassador at the Exhibition and interviewed him on how to strengthen Pak-Brazil trade relations.
On 13 September, the Vice President of the Federation of the Industries of the State of Sao Paulo (FIESP), Mr. Elias Haddad, warmly received the Ambassador at the Headquarters of FIESP. The Vice President introduced the Organization, its constituents, sister bodies, its role in developing country to country business relations at the policy level in Brazil. The Ambassador briefed them about the vast economic and trade opportunities available in Pakistan for Brazilian investors and businessmen. The two sides emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields. In this regard, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the FIESP and FPCCI was also discussed. The Ambassador invited FIESP to visit EXPO Pakistan-2017 to get firsthand information about Pakistani product range and quality.
In his meeting with Mr. Marcelo Caetano, CEO of Tutto Moto, the Ambassador explained in detail the export potential of Pakistan for Brazilian importers. Tutto Moto imports motorcycle accessories mainly from Sialkot. The Ambassador guided Mr. Marcelo and his team on how to maintain smooth and trouble free business relations with Pakistani exporters. The issue of payment modalities and mechanism for quality assurances was also deliberated upon. Mr. Marcelo thanked the Ambassador for his visit and his thorough briefing on how to address the related issues with the help of Embassy of Pakistan. Later, the Ambassador was taken to the Tutto Moto warehouse where products from Pakistan were prominently displayed.
During the visit, the Ambassador also interacted with representatives of the small Pakistani community based in Sao Paulo. The Ambassador emphasized the need for establishing a representative platform for welfare of Pakistanis residing in Sao Paulo. The proposal was well received by the community members. The Ambassador assured them Embassy's full support and cooperation in addressing issues faced by the Pakistani community.
Commercial Counsellor Syed Intikhab Alam accompanied the Ambassador in all his official engagements.
