Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood
Born on October 7, 1976, Ambassador Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood is a career diplomat since 2004. He has done Masters in History and Economics from Pakistan. He speaks English, Chinese, Urdu, Punjabi and can read and write Arabic and Persian. He is an avid reader and likes travelling and cultural exploration. He is married and has four children.
Ambassador Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood joined Foreign Service of Pakistan in 2004 and has six postings abroad to his credit.
He learned Chinese language at Chinese Foreign Affairs University, Beijing from 2006-2008. He served as Vice Consul at Consulate General of Pakistan Shanghai, China from 2008-2011. He was Consul at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Hong Kong, China from 2012-2013. He served as Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels, Belgium from 2015-2016. He served as Deputy Head of Mission in the Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo, Egypt from 2016-2018. He served as Deputy Consul General/Acting Consul General at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chengdu, China from 2018-2022.
During his stay in Pakistan, Ambassador Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood served as Assistant Director (General Services) in 2008 and as Director China, Japan and Korea in 2012 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad. He served as Coordinator China cell in the Prime Minister’s Office, Islamabad from 2013-15, and as Director/Director General Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad from 2022-2023. He also served as Joint Secretary National Security Division, Prime Minister’sOffice, Islamabad in 2023.He worked as Director General at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Islamabad, Pakistan.
Ambassador Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood is currently serving as Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Republic of Ivory Coast since 21 april 2024.
