H.E. Mr. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, paid a visit to the Yasnaya Polyana Museum-Estate of the renowned Russian writer Leo Tolstoy.
During the visit, the Ambassador met with Ms. Ekaterina Tolstaya, Director of Leo Tolstoy’s Yasnaya Polyana Museum-Estate, and Ms. Galina Alekseeva, Research Director of the Museum-Estate.
The discussions focused on prospects for enhancing cultural cooperation between Pakistan and the Yasnaya Polyana Museum-Estate, particularly in the fields of literary studies, translation projects, and academic exchanges. Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering greater scholarly engagement and agreed to explore opportunities for increased participation of Pakistani researchers and academics in the Museum-Estate’s intellectual and cultural initiatives.
As part of the visit, Ambassador Tirmizi toured Leo Tolstoy’s historic residence, gaining insight into the life and legacy of one of the world’s most influential literary figures. The Ambassador also paid tribute at the grave of Leo Tolstoy.
The visit underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and Russia to strengthening cultural and academic ties and promoting greater mutual understanding through literature, scholarship, and people-to-people exchanges.
