Pakistan and Russia reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture, education, and people-to-people exchanges during a high-level webinar titled "Pakistan–Russia: Strengthening Trade, Education & Energy Collaboration."
The webinar brought together senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, academics, and policy experts from both countries to discuss practical avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation and unlocking new opportunities for economic engagement.
The event featured keynote addresses by Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexey Gruzdev, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Russian Federation Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, and Boris Burmistrov, Deputy Director of the Second Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral trade through improved logistics and connectivity, strengthening business-to-business engagement, expanding cooperation in the energy sector, developing sustainable payment mechanisms, promoting academic exchanges and Russian language education, and fostering long-term institutional partnerships to fully realize the potential of Pakistan–Russia economic relations.
Addressing the participants, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi welcomed the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Russia relations and reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to facilitating stronger commercial linkages, promoting investment, and supporting initiatives that advance mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
Emphasizing the importance of people-to-people contacts, the Ambassador described student exchanges as the foundation of sustainable and long-term bilateral relations. He further highlighted the close link between tourism and trade, noting that enhanced visa facilitation would serve as an important catalyst for expanding tourism, strengthening business connectivity, and opening new avenues for economic cooperation between the two countries.
Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Tirmizi reiterated that the Embassy of Pakistan in Moscow remains fully committed to working closely with Russian government institutions, the business community, academic circles, and other stakeholders to further deepen economic engagement and transform the growing political goodwill between Pakistan and Russia into tangible commercial outcomes for the benefit of both nations.
