The 78th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervor at the High Commission of Pakistan in Dar-es-Salaam, this morning. A sizeable number of Pakistani Diaspora members along with families and their Tanzanian friends attended the event.The event started with the flag-hoisting by High Commissioner Siraj Ahmad Khan while the national anthem was being played. Special messages of the President, the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out by the High Commissioner, and Head of Chancery.In his remarks, High Commissioner Siraj Ahmad Khan paid tribute to the founding father of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who single-handedly secured an independent country for the Muslims of the sub-continent. The High Commissioner urged the Pakistani diaspora in Tanzania to play their role in making Pakistan a modern, developed and progressive state.
