The Embassy of Pakistan in Moscow hosted a reception to mark Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day, bringing together around 250 guests, including senior Russian officials, members of the diplomatic corps, academia, media and the Pakistani community. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Yuryevich Galuzin attended as Chief Guest.
Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi spoke of the growing warmth and momentum in Pakistan–Russia relations, highlighting opportunities to deepen cooperation in trade, connectivity, education, tourism and culture. He underlined Pakistan’s interest in the International North–South Transport Corridor, including prospects for linking it with Karachi and Gwadar ports, and stressed the importance of stronger people-to-people ties.
Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin warmly congratulated the people of Pakistan and appreciated Pakistan’s role in regional and international affairs, including Islamabad’s mediation during the recent Gulf crisis and its contribution at the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. He also highlighted expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, connectivity, industry, pharmaceuticals and education.
The evening came alive with the vibrant performances by internationally acclaimed Pakistani hyper folk band Khumariyaan and Pride of Performance violinist Master Raees Khan. Members of the diplomatic corps and guests from the Russian Federation thoroughly enjoyed the Pakistani music and cuisine, bringing a warm and distinctly Pakistani flavour to the celebrations.
