Ambassador Major General Muhammad Irfan, Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) Retired, born in Sargodha, Pakistan on 02 May 1970, has an illustrious military career to his credit. He was commissioned in Pakistan Army in 1991 and retired after meritorious service of 35 years. He was awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of his distinguished and meritorious services.
He is a graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta and National Defence University Islamabad. He holds Master Degree in Arts and Science of Warfare, National Defence University Islamabad.
The General officer has vast staff and command experience during his illustrious career. His staff appointments include Grade Staff Officer-III and Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade, Deputy Assistant / Assistant Military Secretary at Military Secretary Branch, General Staff Officer Grade-I at Chief of General Staff Secretariat. As Brigadier he served as Chief of Staff at Corps Headquarter and Deputy Director General at Inter-Services Intelligence Agency. The General Officer has remained Director General Staff Duties at Chief of Army Staff Secretariat, Principal Secretary to Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Army Staff Secretariat. He has also performed duties at United Nations Mission at Ivory Coast. His command assignments includes Commanding Officer of an Infantry Battalion, Brigade Commander of an Independent Infantry Brigade Group and General Officer Commanding of an Infantry Division.
Plays Golf and enjoys reading, trekking and travelling. The General Officer is happily married and blessed with a son and a daughter.
