Tariq Ali assumed the charge as the Consul General of Pakistan in Kandahar on 30 May 2022.

His prior diplomatic assignments include serving as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Pakistan in the Kyrgyz Republic (2019–2022), and as Assistant Director in various divisions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, including the Europe Division (2018–2019), the Canada and Latin America Division (2017–2018), and the Special Projects and Mission Building Directorate (2016–2017).

Tariq Ali joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2016 after completing his Diplomatic Training Course at the Foreign Service Academy, Islamabad.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Post Graduate College, Mardan (2004) and an LLB from Khyber Law College, University of Peshawar (2008).
