Diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iraq were established in the early 1950s, with Iraq opening its Embassy in Pakistan in 1952. Agha Muhammad Mustafa served as the first Pakistani Ambassador to Iraq, joining the Mission on November 24, 1953.
The Embassy is dedicated to strengthening bilateral relations and assisting the Pakistani community. It aids nationals in obtaining Machine-Readable Passports, attesting documents, handling local burials, and facilitating the transportation of deceased individuals back to Pakistan. Additionally, the Embassy supports Iraqi and third-country nationals in obtaining visas for visiting Pakistan.
Each year, the Embassy facilitates approximately 200,000 regular zaireen (pilgrims) from Pakistan. During Ashura and Arbaeen, it also establishes a camp office in Karbala to assist our pilgrims.
