The trade statistics between Pakistan and Zimbabwe, although not reflective of the true potential, underscore the existing trade dynamics between the two nations. The total bilateral trade for the fiscal year 2023-24 stood at US$ 9.6 million, with Pakistan's exports amounting to US$ 6.05 million and imports from Zimbabwe at US$ 3.55 million. The trade balance during this fiscal year 2023-24 turned in favour of Pakistan. During 2022-23, the trade balance was in favor of Zimbabwe with Pakistan importing goods amounting to US$7.88 million as compared to exporting US$2.71 million with a total trade of US$10.59 million.
The figures for the fiscal year 2022-23 and 2023-24 demonstrate that there is a decline in trade volume compared to the fiscal years 2021-22 when total trade rose to US$ 30.8 million when Pakistan imported huge amounts of raw cotton due to the floods that ravaged vast parts of Pakistan in 2022.
The detailed analysis of the bilateral exports and imports over the last seven years emphasizes the fluctuations in trade volumes and the need for a more sustainable and balanced trade relationship.
