The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Niamey observed Youm-e-Istehsal (the Day of Exploitation) to mark the seventh anniversary of India's illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event was attended by representatives of civil society, academic institutions, students, and the Pakistani community, reaffirming Pakistan's unwavering support for the Kashmiri people's inalienable right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by the playing of the national anthem. Messages from the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister for Foreign Affairs were read on the occasion, highlighting Pakistan's continued moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people. A documentary depicting the historical background of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the prevailing human rights situation in IIOJK was also screened. In his keynote address, Mr. Nadeem Ahmad, Chargé d'Affaires (a.i.), emphasized that India's unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 cannot alter the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated that lasting peace and stability in South Asia could only be achieved through a peaceful resolution of the dispute in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He also appreciated the Government and people of Niger for their continued support for the Kashmir cause and the principles of justice, human rights, and international law. The event concluded with a renewed pledge to continue raising international awareness of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and advocating for a just and peaceful settlement in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
